Financial Planning Associate (Paraplanner or Service Advisor Track – Based on Experience & Alignment)
Build planning expertise while contributing across technical analysis and client relationships within a collaborative, planning-first firm focused on long-term impact.
About Our Firm
At Sortino Financial Group, we help clients make financial decisions they might not otherwise make—choices that shape their lives and futures. We deliver holistic, planning-first advice within a fiduciary framework that integrates investments, retirement, taxes, risk management, and estate considerations. Our team-based model partners closely with accounting professionals and other specialists to simplify complexity and deliver meaningful client impact. Financial strategies and vehicles are implemented only in the context of a comprehensive financial plan—never as stand-alone solutions.
Our ensemble approach fosters ongoing learning, cross-training, and mentorship across experience levels. We emphasize continual alignment to each team member’s highest and best use—encouraging collaboration across roles and allowing professionals to grow where they create the greatest impact—so clients receive the right expertise at the right time.
About the Role
The Financial Planning Associate role is designed for a CFP® professional or CFP® candidate seeking long-term growth within a planning-first firm. This position may begin with blended responsibilities across technical analysis and client-facing support, allowing the individual to develop both planning depth and relationship confidence within our ensemble structure.
Over time, responsibilities naturally align toward either a Paraplanner-focused track or a Service Advisor-focused track based on experience, demonstrated strengths, and career progression. Career advancement within our firm typically follows a natural progression from Paraplanner to Service Advisor to Lead Advisor, with intentional cross-training along the way. This is not a sales-driven role. Business development is permitted but not required, and prospecting is not a primary responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, organize, and analyze client data within financial planning software.
Collaborate with our planning team on modeling, scenario analysis, and plan design.
Prepare meeting materials, planning analyses, and strategy summaries.
Lead or support annual review meetings for established clients.
Reinforce planning recommendations and monitor client progress toward financial goals.
Coordinate plan updates with internal planning staff.
Maintain accurate CRM records, meeting documentation, and follow-up tracking.
Research planning strategies, regulatory updates, and investment considerations.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives within a collaborative team structure.
Why Join Us?
Direct mentorship from senior advisors with extensive client-facing experience, including CFP®, CFA, and QKA professionals.
Growth potential within a small, collaborative team structure.
Cross-training opportunities that allow growth across technical and client-facing responsibilities.
Flexible work environment that prioritizes individual and team performance over hours-based evaluation.
Mission-driven culture focused on clarity, integrity, and meaningful client impact.
2–5 years of experience in financial planning or wealth management preferred; candidates outside this range may be considered based on role alignment and overall qualifications.
Strong interpersonal skills and confidence engaging directly with clients within a collaborative team environment.
Analytical strength with the ability to interpret planning scenarios and adapt to evolving industry tools.
FINRA Series 7 and 65 preferred (or willingness to obtain); life and health insurance license preferred or willingness to obtain.
Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
Proficiency with financial planning software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office tools.
Demonstrated cultural alignment with a planning-first, team-oriented environment.
