The Business Development Officer position is a unique opportunity to launch a long and rewarding career at Crawford Investment Counsel (CIC). This is a full-time position to help support the critical Business Development activities of our private client portfolio management group. This position will report to the Director of Private Investment and work closely with our team of experienced portfolio managers. The Business Development officer will focus on generating new business opportunities and work closely with CIC’s investment professionals to close business from two primary sources; Centers of Influence where Crawford already shares client relationships, and referral networks currently pursued by CIC (Fidelity and Schwab). For the referral networks, CIC has a concentration in the Southeast (not including Florida) and typically uses Zoom to cover the remainder of the country. This position is likely to evolve into a role with direct client responsibilities within one to three years.
The Business Development Officer will support investment professionals in the sales process and execute the following tasks:
Learn about and fully understand all of CIC’s investment offerings
Take ownership of the referral process, which includes:
Acting as the primary liaison between CIC and referral sources
Receive and log sales leads from the referral networks into Salesforce
Determine which department and Portfolio Manager will be responsible for interacting with prospects
Coordinate ongoing tracking of referrals
Support and provide key deliverables within referral process
Participate in introductory conference calls with prospective clients to capture key details from the conversation
Generate proposals for portfolio managers to deliver to prospective clients
Build relationships in person and over the phone with investment representatives to further marketing efforts, specifically in the Southeast region
Attend referral network events to further develop relationships with their referral partner representatives
Experience and Attributes
Bachelor’s degree required
Five years of sales or investment experience preferred
Experience in WAS and SAN Networks preferred
Self-starter and a proactive collaborator with strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills
Ability to develop relationships across varied personality types
Exceptional and proactive communicator (verbal and written)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook is required
