McDonald Jacobs is an accounting firm located in downtown Portland looking for a Bookkeeper to add to our Business Advisory Services team.

Position Description

McDonald Jacobs is looking for a skilled Bookkeeper to maintain our clients’ financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments. They will be a direct support to our BAS team in the Assurance Department and will be a professional with strong and reliable communication, attention to detail and processing skills.

 Job Duties and Responsibilities (Daily and Monthly Responsibilities)

• Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Maintain accurate record of financial transactions
• Reconciliation of entries into the accounting system
• Assist engagement teams with accounting functions, such as recording bank deposit, bank reconciliations, check batches, payroll, and part of month-end close processes
• Complete tax forms (Form 1099s)
• Record daily company transactions

Skills and Qualifications

• Basic knowledge and understanding of accounting (best practices, knowledge of U.S. GAAP)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), with aptitude to learn new software and systems
• Data entry skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with high production of accurate work
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Ability to always maintain professionalism
• Associates degree and/or at least one year of accounting experience

Physical requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
